Stop the Olympic Torch Relay Right Here in San Francisco

[Link to Google Maps]

Surrendering to China's growing economic power, western politicians close their eyes to China's notorious human rights record in recent years. Concerning about losing enormous business contracts (i.e. ... from Boeing, Microsoft and GE to wheats, corns, and soybeans) with China's government, very few political leaders dare to criticize China's wrongdoings. China dominates the political-economic games and sniggers at the fragile "western democracy". Politician's tolerance toward China's human rights record was the cause of those tragedies happened in Tiananmen Square, Tibet, and every nook and corner in China.

If the Westerns still bury their heads in the sand, today's Tibet might reflects tomorrow's Taiwan. And eventually, people who live in this freedom soil will not just lose their partners in Asia but will get hurt for their apartness.

Some people expect that the growing economy in China will eventually transforms its autocracy into a open society. I believe there is a good opportunity for such progress only when the worlds constantly guided China's government the right direction it should turn to. Otherwise, China's growing economic power might end in becoming a disaster to all human beings.

Stop the Olympic torch relay will force China's government to review what they did wrong to Tibet, Sudan, Taiwan, Falun Gone (very similar to Indian Yoga), and even Internet bloggers. Stop the Olympic torch relay will spotlight China's problems for Chinese people who desire a change to their own country. People in London and Paris did the right thing. Now, it's turn for American to get your protest signs ready.

I feel so sad when reading this. I can understand how you support Taiwan and I think Taiwan deserve much more than it has right now in the world as a country. But I don't think stopping Olympic torch is a good way to promote democracy and anything!!

It's a sports game and it should get some respect. Don't think about everything in politics. Tibet is nothing like Taiwan. Tibet is part of PRC/ROC from long ago and Taiwan is ROC.
